The TSM1012AID IC is designed to meet the rapid charging capability of modern applications. It provides a high accuracy current detection and adjustable charging current depending on the application requirements. It has a wide input voltage range of 2.6V to 8V. It provides overvoltage and over temperature protection for the battery and its temperature regulation for the charging system. An internal Adaptive Pre-Charge Protection (APCP) is used to limit the Pre-charge current to 2.5mA to protect host system from inrush current during start-up. The main application fields for the TSM1012AID include Portable Devices, GPS, Wearables, and Handhelds. In Portable Devices, it can be used in smartphones, tablets, and other portable electronic devices. In GPS, it can be used in automotive navigation systems, personal navigation systems and other navigation devices. In Wearables, it can be used in smartwatches and other wearable electronics.The basic working principle of the TSM1012AID is that it charges a single cell Li-ion, Li-Polymer batteries with a constant current and constant voltage (CC/CV) profile. The device is designed to provide accuracy in current detection and adjustable charging current depending on the application requirements. The charging current is regulated by a control loop and the device takes into account the battery voltage, battery temperature and other parameters to provide an optimal charge and protect the battery from overcharging or over discharging.
