The CY7C68321-100AXC is an integrated USB (Universal Serial Bus) controller chip from Cypress Semiconductor Corporation, the leader in USB serial communications technology. The controller combines all of the components necessary for a complete USB 1.1 compliant controller design, including a 8051-based microcontroller processor, RAM, ROM and a variety of I/O functions.

The controller uses an 8051 based processor core supported by internal RAM and ROM, making it compatible with most existing 8051 based applications. In addition, the device includes a full-speed USB 1.1 compliant transceiver which can be configured to operate as a USB device or host. In device mode, the CY7C68321-100AXC can implement a wide variety of USB device functions, such as an HID (Human Interface Device) class device, an audio class device, a printer class device and a mass storage device. In host mode, it can connect with a wide range of USB devices, including keyboards, mice, hubs and storage units.

The CY7C68321-100AXC controller is designed for permanent USB connectivity and is ideal for applications that require a non-volatile connection to peripherals. The device also features a high speed (48MHz) internal clock for maximum performance and a 4 Kbyte zero wait state non-volatile SRAM for storage of data and code. Additionally, the device includes a power management controller and power up/down logic for low-power operation.

The CY7C68321-100AXC supports a wide range of I/O functions, including an 8-bit parallel port, SPI and I2C interfaces and up to 32 general purpose I/O (GPIO) lines. These I/O lines can be used to directly connect to an array of external devices and sensors, or to control onboard peripherals such as LEDs, switches and buzzers. The device also features an on-chip analog to digital converter (10 bit resolution) for converting analog signals from external sensors or devices.
