The 25LC128-E/SN is a 128-Kbit EEPROM Memory device, belonging to the Serial Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory (EEPROM) family. The device enables a maximum clock frequency of 20MHz, and a minimum of 10MHz, that can support multiple protocols, including Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) mode, I²C mode and Microwire. This device is 5V compatible and can operate at temperatures up to 125°C.
This EEPROM Memory device offers excellent features and is suitable for different applications. It is used primarily in microcontrollers, embedded and medical applications, data acquisition equipment, industrial control, analog-to-digital converter control, digital audio systems, etc. The Memory has an access time of 5 microseconds or lower, offering high-speed data transfer.
The 25LC128-E/SN is provided within an 8-pin SOIC package. In addition, the Memory includes an 8-bit write protect register, a write protect pin and an internal write protect latch. Additionally, a unique device Reset feature is contained in this device. This Reset feature will reset all configuration registers to the default values and the write protect latch to a write-enable state.
The 25LC128-E/SN Memory device has two specific functions in its operations: the Read function and the Write function. For the Read function, it operates on the principle of "Send-Answer" mode. That is, the host controller sends the memory command and address, and the Memory responds with the data from the requested address. The control byte is then immediately followed by the address byte, after which the data byte is accessed.
On the other hand, the Write function operates on the principle of "Address-Data-Address-Data" mode. That is, the host controller sends the data byte and the address, followed by the Write command. This will write the data byte to the address specified in the Address-Data-Address-Data address sequence. The Write command is confirmed by the Memory returning the acknowledgement bit.
The Memory also features an array of protection features, such as the Write lock and EEPROM protect registers. The EEPROM protect register is used to prevent data corruption caused by inadvertent write operations. The Write lock register can be used to lock the contents of the SPI, I²C read-only or write-only registers, thus protecting the data from unauthorized access. Moreover, the Write lock can also be used to disable the writing operations on the entire device.
The 25LC128-E/SN is a feature-rich Memory device, with both Read and Write functions. Its key features include clock frequencies up to 20MHz, temperature range up to 125°C, low-power consumption, SPI/I2C/Microwire protocols compatibility, EEPROM protect and Write lock registers, and 8-bit write protect pin.
