Working Principle

When the base voltage is higher than the collector voltage, then a current will flow through the transistor from the collector to the emitter. This current flow is the current gain and is expressed in terms of the current transfer ratio (CTR).

When the base voltage is lower than the collector voltage, then a current will flow from the emitter to the collector. This current flow is referred to as the reverse current gain and is represented by the reverse current transfer ratio (RCTR). CTR and RCTR are useful parameters when designing circuits with the 2N6308 PNP transistor.

Characteristics

The 2N6308 has a current gain of 300 to 500. It can withstand a maximum of 150V DC and has two outputs. It has an operating voltage range of 0-30 volts and a maximum collector-emitter voltage of 30V. The maximum collector current is 5 Amperes and the maximum collector power dissipation is 30W. The transistor has a valley current at which it can switch from conducting to non-conducting state and vice versa. This valley current is 0.7V for the 2N6308.

The 2N6308 also has a maximum frequency of amplification or cut-off frequency of 300MHz. It also has a high input impedance and a low output impedance. These features make it suitable for high frequency switching and amplification applications.
