Introduction
The BC846AT is a 1.5A PNP bipolar junction transistor designed for general purpose switching, amplifying and preamplifying applications in electronic circuits. This transistor has a wide range of uses, including preamplifying audio signals, and for low power audio amplifiers, Class B and Class A output stages and other linear circuits. Bipolar transistors, including the BC846AT, works by controlling the amount of current flowing between their base and collector components. When the base current is increased, the collector current increases. This is due to the current amplification factor, Hfe, which is the ratio of the collector current to the base current. The base current is applied to the transistor through the use of a voltage source, causing the base-collector junction to act as a switch. When the voltage on the base is higher than the collector voltage, then the transistor is on and current is able to flow from the collector to the emitter. When the voltage on the base drops below the collector voltage then the transistor is off and current is unable to flow.The collector current of the BC846AT can be controlled by varying the base current. This allows for the transistor to be used as a switch or an amplifier. The collector current can also be adjusted by changing the supply voltage.Conclusion
