CPC3982TTR is an N-channel enhancement mode Field Effect Transistor (FET) designed for switching and low level circuit applications. It is the first time a n-channel enhancement mode Field Effect Transistor has been available in a 4-pin TO-220 package. It is an ideal choice for designers who need high input impedance, low current consumption and small form factor.
The working principle of CPC3982TTR is quite simple and is based on the same principles as all other FETs. CPC3982TTR operates when a voltage is applied to the gate terminal of the transistor. When this voltage is higher than the threshold voltage (Vgs(th)) of the transistor, the channel in which the drain current is to flow is turned on and a drain current (ID) is allowed to flow. This current is proportional to the gate-source (Vgs) voltage. In the input stage of CPC3982TTR, the gate voltage Vgs is smaller than the threshold voltage and the drain current is close to zero.
Given its ability to switch power at a very low Vgs(th), CPC3982TTR can be used in various low-end applications.
