And when a current is passed through the emitter to the collector, the current flows from the collector to the emitter through the P-type channel. This is how the device works in the on-state.

On the other hand, the device works in the off-state when no voltage is applied to the gate terminal. As no voltage is applied to the gate terminal, the electrons are not injected in to the P-type channel and hence the channel becomes insulating. As a result, no current flows between the emitter and collector.

The FF600R12IE4BOSA1 is designed primarily for high frequency inverters, welding and lighting applications. Because of its high switching frequency, it can be used for variable frequency inverter topologies such as three-level neutral-point-clamped and cascaded H-bridge or full-bridge converter designs. This device is also suitable for variable speed motor drives, switched-mode power supplies, and UPS systems.
