Memory has been an important constituent of any technology-driven product or system since the inception of computers. The requirements of modern products to store and retrieve large volumes of data quickly and efficiently have led to the development of various memory devices. One such memory device is the FM25L04B-GATR. This device is an ideal choice for applications that need nonvolatile, high-density boot code, configuration data and code storage.

The parallel output is accessed through the Parallel Control Logic that operates on a three-wire interface.
Writing to the FM25L04B-GATR is just as simple. The write feature is achieved through the same three-wire serial interface and is programmed as a \'write cycle\' in which a bit of data is written to the memory sequentially. Writing to the memory is accomplished by a state machine that sequences the bits through the write cycle. The cycle is self-clocked, and the data is written to the memory when the read/write bit is taken low. The data is then transferred generically to its respective location. In order to ensure the data is always valid after power-up, the FM25L04B-GATR can also perform self-test when a reset is performed.
The FM25L04B-GATR is a multipurpose memory device suitable for any application that requires non-volatile storage. For example, it can be used in a variety of products such as computer backups, automotive or medical instrumentation and communication systems.
