The FQP70N08 is a single N-channel enhancement-mode Field Effect Transistor (MOSFET) used in various electronic applications. It is designed for use in switchgear, digital and analog circuits, power management, and high frequency switching applications. The FQP70N08 has a maximum drain current (Id) of 70A, a gate-source voltage (Vgs) of 20V, and a maximum drain-source voltage (Vds) of 100V.
The FQP70N08 is ideal for applications requiring large amounts of power switching, such as motor control and power management. It is designed to handle high voltages and current without suffering from heating issues. As a single-channel MOSFET, the FQP70N08 can be used to control a single flows of electricity, such as that of a single motor or device.
The working principle of the FQP70N08 is relatively simple. It is basically an electronically-controlled switch, which can be turned on or off depending on the voltage applied to its gate. When the gate voltage is high enough (i.e. greater than the threshold voltage Vth), the MOSFET is open, allowing electricity to flow. When the gate voltage drops below the Vth, the MOSFET is closed and no current is allowed to pass through it.
In addition to controlling a single electric flow, the FQP70N08 can also be used for switching or multiplexing applications. In multiplexing applications, the FQP70N08 can be used to direct an applied switching voltage (Vsw) to any one of several different output signals. This is done by connecting each output signal to one of the Source pins of the FQP70N08, (e.g. S1, S2, and S3). A common drain pin, connected to the FQP70N08 drain pin (D), is then connected to the output signal\'s sink. The gate of the FQP70N08 is then connected to the switching voltage (Vsw). By applying a sufficiently high voltage to the gate of the FQP70N08, the FQP70N08 will turn on and allow electric current to flow from the drain pin to the Source pin connected to the output signal. Conversely, when a voltage lower than the threshold voltage Vth is applied to the gate of the FQP70N08, it will turn off and current will not pass through it.
The FQP70N08 is also useful for amplifier applications, where it can be used to amplify an electric signal. For this application, the FQP70N08 operates as a controlled current source. An input signal is applied to the gate of the MOSFET and the desired output current is applied to the drain. The electric current flowing out of the drain can be amplified by a gain-controlled trickle, arranged by adjusting the gate-to-source voltage. The gain is proportional to the value of the gate-to-source voltage.
For many electronic applications, the FQP70N08 is an ideal solution due to its impressive power handling capabilities, its simple working principle, and its ability to be used in a wide range of applications. Its superior performance makes it a popular choice for industrial, consumer, and commercial applications.
