A single diode is an electronic component used to be an ideal rectifier for AC current. A single diode such as GP10BE-E3/54 allows current to flow in only one direction – from anode to cathode. In other words, the diode acts like a one-way valve or switch, “Letting” current flow in one direction only, whereas “Blocking” current from the other direction.The GP10BE-E3/54 is usually used as a rectifier in power supplies, voltage multipliers, and signal clamping applications. Working Principle

This forward bias current is conducted by the diode’s intrinsic properties.

Besides, when reverse bias is applied (i.e. when the anode voltage is lower than the cathode voltage), the reverse current is blocked by the diode’s reverse bias breakdown voltage, allowing only a very small reverse current through.
