The ISL61851FCBZ-T is an advanced high performance power management integrated circuit (PMIC) designed for hot swap (HS) applications. It features an advanced adaptive on-time control loop to minimize output voltage overshoot and undershoot during current step load transients and an adjustable cycle-by-cycle current limit for improved protection and performance in current limiting circuits. The ISL61851FCBZ-T includes an analog current comparator and voltage reference which is used to provide precise over-current and over-voltage protection by sensing the input current and output voltage of the Hot Swap application. The Analog current comparator works in conjunction with the overvoltage protection (OVP) logic circuit to provide robust overvoltage protection and overcurrent protection for Hot Swap applications.
The ISL61851FCBZ-T integrates several key features to enable robust HS applications. A low W enable logic circuit with an enable turn on time of 6 us is included to enable low logic level active-low enable input and prevent Hot Swap applications from seeing long enable transitions. The control and protection logic also provides a configurable sense power limit, hysteresis, slew rate limitation and Open DRAIN enable output capability to ensure proper Hot Swap functionality. The adjustable overvoltage threshold can be configured to meet a wide range of system requirements.
