The internal logic then converts the input voltage to a current that is proportional to the voltage and level of the input. This current is then applied to the Gate Drive pin, allowing the gate driver to provide the necessary drive current to the Power MOSFETs. The result of the Gate Drive is sufficient current flowing through the Power MOSFET gates, allowing them to open and close, thereby controlling the power delivery to the load.

LM5112SD/NOPB also provides protection against overcurrent and short circuit, as well as thermal protection and an overvoltage lockout. The overcurrent and short circuit protection prevents the gate driver from overloading and destroying the output circuit, while the thermal protection ensures that the dissipation levels are kept within the limits of the system. The overvoltage lockout protects the gate driver from being damaged by high voltages.
