The LNK305DG is a monolithic integrated linear power supply controller that consists of an adjustable smooth-turn-on current shunt regulator and a frequency modulated, fixed-frequency, valley-switch type power control switch. It is widely used in isolated AC/DC switching power supply applications, offline switcher applications and basic power supplies.
The LNK305DG is a high performance and highly integrated primary side power regulator that offers a wide operating voltage range (4-45V) and uses minimum external components for up to 2kW designs. It can operate with both synchronous rectification, or continuous conduction mode operation. The LNK305DG adaptively regulates the average output current to set the desired load current and the peak current that is provided to the device. The device supports separate control of current limit parameters, including valley current limit and peak current limit, allowing a wide range of control of the output current of the switcher by adjusting the gate voltage of the external power MOSFETs.
The LNK305DG maintains the desired output current over line and load variations with its adaptive current peak, valley and continuous control. This operation can also be enabled with a simple resistor adjustable, current sense input according to the desired load level. The LNK305DG includes a frequency modulated, self-regulated, valley switch mode operating switch. This allows the device to meet basic offline switcher applications because switching frequency and valley current is steady up to ±10% of the input voltage.
