The LNK3206P is an AC/DC offline switcher designed primarily for general purpose applications. It is specially designed to efficiently provide output power in a very wide range of input voltages and frequency. It features a wide quasi-resonant (QR) operating frequency range, providing excellent efficiency and stability control over a wide range of input voltages. Its rectified output voltage is adjustable, allowing for a very flexible power supply of 2.5V to 13.8V (maximum) and able to provide output power in excess of 1 W or 2 W.

The LNK3206P works with two inputs for main and auxiliary power sources. The auxiliary input provides lower voltage for start-up applications, integrated with the PWM controller, allowing for efficient and low-loss operation. The integrated primary side operation controller significantly reduces the cost of external components. Its high resolution current sense and peak current measuring operation allow to accurately control output current. The integrated input over-voltage protection (OVP) and under-voltage lockout (UVLO) prevent any huge voltage transients from damaging the device, while the internal logic also contains an adjustable soft-start and current limiter.

The LNK3206P works in a quasi-resonant fixed frequency control (QR FFC) mode which helps to drastically reduce changes in switching frequency resulting in better thermal performance and reduced conducted emission. The FFC mode also helps to reduce operating jitter and helps to keep the regulator in the TM mode most of time, while switching off in case of low input voltages, providing good load and line regulation. The FFC also helps in minimizing noise and distortion, thus preventing any interferences in the device.

The LNK3206P is ideally suited for applications such as notebook adapters, LCD TV adapters, bar-code readers and POS systems, printer adapters and embedded applications. Its excellent performance in terms of power density, low EMI, fast transient response and excellent operation from low line to high line, it truly is an excellent AC/DC offline switcher.
