The LNK306G is a precise, high speed, low component count, current-mode, high performance power factor correction (PFC) controller with 72 kilohertz frequency operating switching frequency. Operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C and the supply voltage range from 9V to 410 VDC. It has a wide field of applications such as Simple PFC, Low Cost PFC&FC, Low Cost Low Power PFC, Capacitive Input PFC and Low Cost High Power PFC.

The LNK306G features several unique features such as its wide supply voltage range, high frequency operation, low component count and high efficiency. Its wide supply voltage range means that it can operate at higher input voltages while maintaining its high accuracy, thus allowing designers to operate in different voltage thresholds. It also provides protections such as under voltage, over voltage, over current and short circuit protection.

The LNK306G AC/DC converter can be used for a variety of offline switchers and applications, such as off-line LED lighting, uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs) and switching power supplies. The device utilizes a current-mode PFC controller to ensure that the output power factor is high, while the highly efficient design of the device ensures that the power loss is low. The device also features an integrated temperature compensated current-mode oscillator, allowing for a wide range of switching frequencies to be utilized.

The working principle of the LNK306G AC/DC converter is based on the principle of peak current control. This feature allows the power factor of the converter to be accurately controlled. When the input voltage is applied, the converter switches the switch on. This causes the inductor current to rapidly increase to the peak current set by the peak current control circuit. When the inductor current reaches its set point, the peak current control circuit trips and the current drops to zero. A comparator with a set voltage drop across the switch then triggers the off signal, which causes the switch to reset and the inductor current to decrease.

As the output current of the device increases, it is reflected in the voltage drop across the current sensing resistor. This voltage drop is then used to control the frequency of the oscillator, ensuring that the output current and power factor remain constant. The device is designed such that the current mode control ensures low-harmonic distortion and peak current mode control ensures high efficiency and immunity to input line transients.

The LNK306G AC/DC converter provides a great solution for high performance and low cost applications that require high accuracy, fast response time and low power consumption.
