LinkSwitch-TN (LNK353GN-TL) is an AC-DC switching converter designed specifically for low-cost, high-efficiency power supply applications. The LinkSwitch-TN solution is a single-stage, fixed-frequency PWM converter. It integrates a benefits including synchronous rectification, built-in current limit, short circuit protection, and over-temperature protection, making it an ideal solution for high-performance, reliable power supplies.The LinkSwitch-TN operates by switching primary-side MOSFETs between peak current limiter (PCL)and off states at a fixed frequency. During PCL, the inward current is ramped up and limited to the peak current programmed by the external resistor. The high-side and low-side MOSFETs switch from off to on state when the voltage across the inductor is below the valley current threshold. When the voltage across the inductor is above the valley or peak current threshold, the MOSFETs switch back off. The total energy transferred to the system is proportional to the on-time of the switching MOSFETs. The peak current voids energy losses in the conduction mode while off-time reduces losses in the switching mode.LinkSwitch-TN supports a wide input voltage range of 85–265 Vac, making it suitable for most applications in today’s market. It has a high efficiency of up to 97%, and provides an output power range from 5 to 25 W. The output voltage can be easily set by connecting resistors between the FB and GND pins or by using PWM for dynamic control. It is also available in an adjustable version, which allows the output voltage to be changed by applying an external control signal. The LinkSwitch-TN also supports a range of output voltages from 3.3 V to 50 V and can be used in parallel or in series mode.LinkSwitch-TN is suitable for a wide range of applications, including ac/dc SMPSs, battery chargers, lighting and white goods. It has been designed with safety and compliance in mind and is fully compliant with the applicable safety and EMC standards.
