Working Principle
The MG1275S-BA1MM IGBT module uses the principle of Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) technology. An IGBT is essentially a combination of the features of a MOSFET (Metal-Oxide Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor) and a BJT (Bipolar Junction Transistor). The MOSFET controls the current flow while the BJT amplifies the output current.
The MG1275S-BA1MM module consists of a main semiconductor body, as well as two sets of gate terminals and two sets of emitter and collector terminals. The main body is a solid-state device that consists of two sets of conductors – one set is made up of SiC (silicon carbide) while the other is made up of Si (silicon) with a layer of oxide between them.
When a voltage is applied to the gate terminals, the positive and negative ions within the gate terminals repel each other and create a void. This produces an electric field that switches the conductivity of the semi-conductor. This enables current to pass through the semi-conductor and turn it on, thus controlling the current flow.
The two sets of emitter and collector terminals are connected to the main body of the IGBT. When the gate voltage is applied, current flows through the main body and is amplified as it passes through the collector. This amplified current is then passed to the load.
