Memory technology is the core of computer systems which enables storage and transfer of information. An integrated system-on-chip (SOC) of flash memory is the MT29F8G08ABBCAH4:C. It is an 8 gigabit (Gb), second generation, Triple-Level Cell (TLC) NAND Flash memory device organized as an array of 4,194,304 pages/sectors of 8192 bytes each. This SOC offers a high level of integration, providing cost efficiency and reliability to a broad range of markets, including automotive and industrial.

This SOC integrates hardware, firmware, software and memory onto a single chip. It is organized as an array of 4,194,304 (8Gb = 4,194,304 ´= 8 K bytes; x 2 planes = 8K bytes x 8 pages x 8 planes = 8192 bytes). The whole SOC occupies a relatively small area thereby lowering its cost. The MT29F8G08ABBCAH4:C uses a low voltage package of 2.7V - 3.3V that support the density and area size.

In addition, the MT29F8G08ABBCAH4:C provides an on-chip random number generator, data protection and AES-128 for security. The random number generator provides a built-in random read and write operations ensuring data integrity and safety. Data protection prevents accidental tampering or alteration of data. Furthermore, the AES-128 encryption provides a secure line of communication between the host device and the device itself. The integrated memory controller allows the controller to have access to the device without having to rely on the host device.

The MT29F8G08ABBCAH4:C embedded NAND flash is based on the advanced CMOS process, 24nm technology.
