NUCLEO-F446ZE Application Field and Working Principle

NUCLEO-F446ZE (also known as NUCLEO-F446) is an evaluation board based on the STM32F446RE microcontroller. The board has two features that make it unique: its considerable amount of on-chip memory, and its powerful processing speed. This board is the ideal entry point into embedded system design.The STM32F446RE microcontroller used on the NUCLEO-F446ZE is based on the STM32F4 32-bit ARM Cortex-M4 processor. It is an advanced, high-performance and low-power 32-bit MCU with built-in FPU. It operates on a maximum frequency of 84 MHz, and is capable of delivering up to 36 MIPS. The NUCLEO-F446ZE board also includes two DMA (direct memory access) controllers, two FSMC (flexible static memory controller), two USARTs (universal asynchronous receiver-transmitter), one I2C (inter integrated circuit), one CAN (controller area network) and one RTC (real-time clock).The board also features a number of other features, including a TFT (thin-film transistor) display controller, an 8-bit ADC (analog to digital converter) and a DAC (digital to analog converter). There is also an on-board programmer/debugger available, hosting an ST-LINK/V2-C version of the STM32 debugging interface. The board can be connected to an external power supply, and can also be powered directly by USB.In terms of software, the NUCLEO-F446ZE is pre-programmed with the free STM32CubeIDE software package (available for Windows, Linux and macOS desktops). This software package includes a powerful debugging mode and a library of example projects for those getting started with embedded systems. The STM32CubeIDE also includes support for the mbed project, making it easy to develop firmware for the NUCLEO-F446ZE.The NUCLEO-F446ZE offers a wide range of applications for developers, students, professionals and hobbyists.
