Working Principle

The PBSS4160PANP consists of a 4-transistor array, which is interconnected to constitute the device. Each of the transistors is connected in its emitter to the collector of the shared base connection. This array allows the voltage variation in each device to be adjusted by adjusting the dc base current. The amount of current being produced is determined by the number of transistors in the device.

The PBSS4160PANP works by implementing the principle of AC coupling, also known as common-mode rejection of alternating-current signals. This principle is used to mitigate the signal-dependent distortion of AC signals. The device uses this technique by ensuring that both differential and common-mode AC signals are rejected. Additionally, the current gain of each device is maximized by utilizing this differentiation in differential and common mode signal.

The PBSS4160PANP contains several High-Speed BJTs, which can drive high-current loads. This is attained by utilizing base-collector PNP-type transistors in the array. This device provides improved stability and better protection against overcurrent conditions through various protection mechanisms, such as spike-less clamping and polarity protection. This array also provides high voltage operation, with higher breakdown voltages in base and collector.
