Diodes are an essential component for most electronics, as they convert alternating current or AC power into direct current or DC. Rectifier diodes are an essential part of any AC to DC conversion, such as when used in power supplies or battery chargers. Single diodes can do this job, but are limited in their efficiency. To address this, RS1GL RHG (Reduced High-Gain) application diodes were created.
The RS1GL RHG diodes are high-speed Rectifier diodes of 8 Amp forward current rating. The RS1GL RHG application field refers to the fact that these diodes are used in various applications to provide a high-frequency junction that can be used to efficiently convert AC power to DC power. These diodes also feature a 100uA current rating and a 1V reverse voltage rating. Additionally, their maximum peak level is 650V.
The work principle of the RS1GL RHG diodes involves impeding current flow in one direction and allowing it to pass easily in the other. This is done by pairing two diodes: one with a low forward resistance (also known as the "forward diode"), and another that has a high reverse resistance (usually referred to as the "reverse diode").
When a voltage is applied across the diodes in the RS1GL RHG application field, the forward diode is triggered first, and the current will be able to travel through it. As soon as the current level drops below the forward voltage of the reverse diode, that diode will switch on, allowing current to flow in the opposite direction. As a result, a very efficient AC to DC conversion is achieved.
The RS1GL RHG diodes are thus ideal for use in any applications where high-frequency operation is desired. They have a significantly lower forward voltage than standard diodes, at only 1V and are also less prone to saturation than traditional diodes, providing excellent current and frequency performance.
In addition to their high-frequency performance, the RS1GL RHG diodes also feature a low reverse voltage ratings, allowing them to survive high-voltage spikes that would be damaging to standard rectifier diodes. The strong reverse polarity characteristics of the RS1GL RHG diodes also protect them from the effects of reverse polarity surges.
The RS1GL RHG diodes are thus an excellent choice for use in any applications where higher-speed operation is required, with improved frequency performance and more efficient operation than standard rectification diodes. Their low reverse voltage requirements and strong reverse polarity protection also make them an ideal solution for many demanding applications.
