Diodes are electronic components, which are used to regulate current. Generally, diodes are differentiated by their purpose. Rectifiers are used to restrict current, while single rectifiers are designed to convert AC current to DC current. The SE10FD-M3/I is a single rectifier that belongs to the Fast Recovery Series family. It is a high-power rectifier diode with fast recovery time, low forward voltage drop and low reverse leakage current. The SE10FD-M3/I is used for reverse power protection, Solar cell protection, overvoltage transient protection and PoE (Power over Ethernet). The SE10FD-M3/I single rectifier comprises of PN junction and metal semiconductor junction, which are its two main components. The PN junction is used to control the flow of current in one direction, while the metal semiconductor junction limits the current to flow in opposite direction. In reverse biased mode, the metal semiconductor junction acts as a resistor.The purpose of the SE10FD-M3/I single rectifier is to convert AC current to DC current. The working principle is based on the rectification effect, in which AC current is converted to DC current by changing the unidirectional flow of current through the diode. When an AC voltage is applied to the diode, the voltage will polarize the junction. As the AC voltage polarity changes, the voltage across the junction will alternate between positive and negative polarity. The PN junction will only allow the current to flow in one direction, depending on the voltage applied across it. If the voltage is applied in the opposite direction, the junction will be reverse-biased, thereby allowing no current to flow. This phenomenon is known as rectification effect. The SE10FD-M3/I features a low forward voltage drop and low reverse leakage current, allowing it to regulate current effectively without wasting energy. Its high-power rating and fast recovery time makes it an ideal choice for reverse power protection, overvoltage transient protection and Solar cell protection applications. It is also typically used for PoE (Power over Ethernet) applications.
