STEVAL-IPM10B is a popular Evaluation and Demonstration board developed by STMicroelectronics. It is designed to help engineers test, evaluate and demonstrate the capabilities of STMicroelectronics Motor Control solutions. The goal of the STEVAL-IPM10B board is to provide a platform to quickly and efficiently demonstrate the advantages of STMicroelectronics MCU solutions. The board is designed to be an ideal evaluation tool to explore the features and performance of STMicroelectronics\' full range of Motor Control solutions.
The STEVAL-IPM10B board is based around the STM32F103C8T6 Cortex-M3 microcontroller. It has an integrated motor driver capable of driving a three-phase motor up to about 2A peak current. The STEVAL-IPM10B board is designed to provide an interface between the STM32F103 Cortex-M3 microcontroller and a three-phase bridge of motor. The board\'s control unit enables programming, controlling, and monitoring of the motor. The board is also equipped with a thermistor which is embedded inside the motor to monitor the temperature of the motor.
The STEVAL-IPM10B board provides development engineers with a platform to evaluate and demonstrate STMicroelectronics Motor Control solutions. The board helps to reduce development time, increase the performance of the solutions, and provide a reliable platform to explore the full range of application possibilities of motor control solutions. The board provides a rich set of peripherals, including dual RS232 transceivers, analog voltage input, PWM output and stepping motor outputs, for developing proper motor control applications. The board also contains power switches, polarity protection features to avoid damage from reverse connection and a thermal circuit breaker for protection against short circuits.
The STEVAL-IPM10B board works with a variety of application software that allows engineers to quickly develop and prototype their applications with controllers, boards and modules. It provides a platform for developing motor control applications that can make use of adaptive, sensorless control algorithms to ensure maximum efficiency and performance of the motor. The board also features an integrated system to ensure rapid development and deployment and minimizes the amount of external circuitry required.
The STEVAL-IPM10B consists of a number of components required to work together to enable complete motor control. It includes the board controller for the STM32F103C8T6 Cortex-M3 microcontroller, plus the required interface for communications, actuation, power supplies and sensing. The STEVAL-IPM10B comes with a broad selection of software that covers a range of motor control and digital signal processing functions. This includes software designs for trajectory control, speed control, position control, torque control, automatic shutoff and emergency shutdown.
