Application Field

The STW40100C is a diode array that is commonly used in general-purpose rectification applications. It is perfect for applications that require full-wave rectification of AC voltage sources, such as AC-DC power supplies, DC motor control systems, and high-voltage circuits. This device combines four diodes in a single package, which allows for a compact size and lower power consumption. It can be used in many other applications and can handle higher currents and high voltages. It has a maximum peak repetitive reverse voltage (VRRM) of 400V and a maximum non-repetitive peak surge rating of 600V. The STW40100C is available in two package sizes and two mounting styles.

Working Principle

The STW40100C consists of four diodes connected in a bridge configuration. When subjected to an alternating current, the diodes will act as a full-wave rectifier. This means that the device will rectify voltage by passing the positive half-cycles and blocking the negative half-cycles. This process results in the converted AC current being equivalent to the original DC current that was supplied.

When a load is connected in the output of the rectifier, a bridge of two or more diodes will be used to provide the necessary switching. When the switch is activated, one of the diodes in the bridge will conduct the current, while the other will be reversed biased.
