The TL594CDG is a family of monolithic, pulse-width modulation (PWM) controllers that provide all of the control and drive functions necessary to implement a cost effective and efficient DC/DC converter. It is one of the most popular and widely used power management control solutions in the market and widely used as a DC/DC switching controller in various portable and industrial applications.
The TL594CDG is designed to be used in multiple applications including DC/DC converters with boost, buck and flyback topologies, DC/AC inverters, AC motor speed controls, switched mode power supplies and active filter applications. The TL594CDG integrates several key functions essential to power conversion including an operational amplifier, high current totem pole output stage, dead time control, under and over-voltage detect and protection, frequency jittering and synchronization, induction heater control, and integrated soft-start circuitry.
The device combines a high-current, CMOS, totem-pole output stage with duty cycle control logic and programmable features. The output stage is capable of directly driving the primary side of the power switch up to a peak current of 3A. Deadtime for the high side output can be programmed via an external resistor to allow for adjustable output characteristics. In addition, the output stage is capable of driving the gate of an external N-Channel MOSFET to a high level of up to 10V with a 3.3V supply voltage. The TL594CDG also contains low-power high-precision voltage sensing circuitry with both under-voltage and over-voltage detector functions to ensure reliable operations.
