The TL594CDR2 works by using a high-voltage input and a current-mode control architecture. It uses an internal high voltage switch to control the voltage of the output. The switching frequency is controlled by an integrated ramp oscillator and is adjustable from 300 kHz to 500 kHz.The device also has an on-chip current sense amplifier with an integrated reference that is used to monitor the output voltage. The current sense level is programmable from 0 to 6 volts. The current sense amplifier is used to detect when the output of the power switch is approaching its maximum, and the device reduces the duty cycle of the switch in order to avoid exceeding the maximum output voltage.The device also has several protection functions, including overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent and overtemperature.
