TL594CNSR is a DC-DC switching controller IC for pulse width modulation (PWM) controlled voltage regulation with a high frequency to reduce EMI that can be used in power supplies with higher transients. The primary purpose is to drive transistor switches in a specific way, depending on the output voltage of the power supply, hence the name voltage regulator or DC-DC switching controller. This IC features a linear-mode voltage regulator, voltage class-AB error amplifier, fixed-duty PWM comparator, high or low-side current sensing, totem-pole output, series current limiting, and thermal shutdown protection.
Application Field
TL594CNSR is used in switching power supplies, DC-DC converters, DC-AC inverters, AC-DC converters, battery chargers, switching regulators, high-precision voltage and current monitoring applications, and other PWM power control applications. Working Principle
TL594CNSR works on the principle of Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) controlled voltage regulation. The IC contains an error amplifier, a fixed-duty PWM comparator, high and low-side current sensing, a totem-pole output, series current limiting, and thermal shutdown protection.
The linear regulator of the IC is used to control the output voltage and current to a predetermined level. The error amplifier monitors the output voltage of the power supply and sends a signal to the PWM comparator. PULSE WIDTH MODULATION is used to control the output voltage of the power supply. The PWM signal is sent to the low side and high side switches, thus controlling the output voltage.
The current sensing circuit monitors the current on the increasing side. The sensed current is then compared with the reference current and the output is sent to the totem-pole output. The series current limiting circuit allows the currents to be limited to a predetermined level, thus protecting the power supply from overcurrent and overvoltage. The thermal shutdown feature of TL594CNSR protects the power supply from overheating.
