VIPER0PLDTR (Variable Inductor Pulse-type Energized Regulated Design and Transient Response) is a highly efficient power conversion technology developed by On Semiconductor Corporation. It allows controlled delivery of power with reduced losses and improved switching frequency.
The VIPER0PLDTR on-chip converter works especially well with AC/DC and offline switcher applications. It features variable inductor technology to maximize efficiency while reducing switching losses. Moreover, it produces very low EMI radiation, making it ideal for the communications markets such as mobile applications, consumer products and white goods.
The VIPER0PLDTR can also be used in any AC/DC and offline switcher circuitry to achieve optimal power conversion. Its variable inductor technology greatly reduces switching losses and increases reliability. The converter has two components, a magnetic inductor and a power switch, which work together to provide an optimal power conversion efficiency.
The VIPER0PLDTR has a wide range of applications including AC/DC and offline switcher systems and telecommunications power supplies, AC/DC adapters and DC/DC modules. The converter’s accuracy and efficiency make it ideal for demanding applications such as high end cellular handsets, base station power supplies, and DC/DC module with tight region of regulation.
VIPER0PLDTR power conversion technology utilizes a secondary feature that constantly monitors the voltage at the output and adjusts the circuit timing accordingly to provide a high-accuracy voltage output. This secondary feature also provides over-voltage protection, over-current protection and short-circuit protection.
The VIPER0PLDTR utilizes primary and secondary control loops to ensure voltage regulation. The primary control loop regulates the current by using the inductor’s current sense output, whereas the secondary control loop regulates the voltage by using the voltage at the output.
The VIPER0PLDTR technology provides a high level of efficiency and a broad range of protection for various AC/DC and offline switcher applications. It has lower switching losses thanks to its variable inductor technology, and its secondary control loop ensures accuracy and protection.
