The VIPER115XSTR belongs to the category of PMIC – AC DC Converters, Offline Switchers. It is a high performance, low standby current and fault tolerant, 3 phase AC/DC converter featuring a wide input range and an adjustable current limitation. It offers high power density and superior EMI performance, allowing seamless integration with EMI sensitive applications. The VIPER115XSTR is available in industrial, commercial and automotive temperature grades.
This device provides a wide input voltage operating range at either 230V ac, 115V ac, or 100V ac, while featuring dual stage protections against over-current and short circuits. The VIPER115XSTR output voltage can be set matched to the individual application needs, either by resistance or by a simple PWM signal. A low standby current of 0.5mA at 230V ac ensures the energy savings. Typical applications include power supplies for high power white goods, industrial and commercial applications.
The VIPER115XSTR uses advanced high-speed power switching technology, with a current control cycle of up to 2 MHz, allowing operation from low to high load condition without compromising accuracy and/or stability. The switching current is modulated allowing to properly limit the supply current during startup conditions or high load transients. The switching current is sensed cascadely to provide over-current protection, open or short-circuit protection, overload protection, and overload protection accuracy.
The VIPER115XSTR includes a comprehensive suite of protections to ensure the safety of the user, the equipment, and the environment. The protection parameters are programmable and can easily be adapted to the specific application needs. The device features four modes of operation: Auto Run, Standby, Soft Start and Falsecircuit (FC).
The Auto Run mode is the default run mode of the VIPER115XSTR. The Standby mode allows reducing the power consumption of the device and switching off the gate drivers. The Soft Start mode includes a range of continuous soft-start and shutdown current settings. The Falsecircuit mode eliminates the possibility of induction or electromagnetic loads in the output side when the device is in standby mode.
The VIPER115XSTR series is developed to meetSafety standards such as UL/CSA, EN/IEC and latest JEDEC (pending certification) and meet all the requirements related to operational performance. It features a wide and robust temperature range of -40°C to +145°C and continuous operating capability at an ambient temperature of up to 150°C.
