POWERINT VIPER17HN is a multi-mode resonant AC to DC converter controller integrated circuit (IC). It is designed and manufactured for applications such as high frequency off-line switchers, DC-DC and AC-DC converters. The VIPER17HN provides higher efficiency, superior thermal performance, low standby power and scalable design solutions for both AC and DC applications.
The VIPER17HN meets the application needs of a wide range of AC and DC input power conversion, and supports topologies such as flyback, half-bridge, full-bridge, LLC and single ended primary inductance converter (SEPIC). The IC integrates all of the necessary features and components to support multi-mode operation of these multiple topologies, such as on-board PLL, active clamp reset drivers, overcurrent protections, and so on. As a result, the VIPER17HN can provide good performance and maximum design flexibility, allowing designers to develop more optimized solutions.
The VIPER17HN is designed to provide improved efficiency and power quality in mobile power adapters, AC/DC desktop adapters, LED drivers and other AC or DC power supplies. It is designed to operate up to 700V, with up to two PFC channels and up to eight isolated DC outputs. It can also be used in combination with microcontrollers to implement high power density solutions for applications requiring precise control. Additionally, its active clamped zero voltage switching (ZVS) feature provides improved system efficiency and reduced EMI.
The VIPER17HN features a simple and easy to use graphical user interface (GUI). The GUI provides extensive information on the device performance and features, including output voltage and current, DC/AC mode settings, output frequency settings, and more. This information can be used to quickly configure and optimize a design. The user can also save the device settings and export the configuration data to a file for further analysis.
The VIPER17HN is designed to deliver improved efficiency and better thermal performance. Its low-side MOSFET driver has a regenerative switching that can eliminate losses from the primary switch. There is also an on-board synchronization circuit that reduces switching losses and eliminates the need for external components. The IC is also able to detect and respond to short circuit conditions and provides adjustable soft start and cycle-by-cycle current limit.
