ZTX851 Application Field and Working Principle

Working Principle:

The ZTX851 is a bipolar junction transistor (BJT), which means it is composed of two PN junctions.The PNP and NPN junction transistors are the two main types of BJT and the ZTX851 is an NPN type. The NPN type is composed of a P-type base material sandwiched between two N-type emitter and collector regions. In operation, the base-emitter junction is forward biased, and the base-collector junction is reverse biased. When a voltage is applied to the base of the transistor, a current will flow from the emitter to the collector, allowing for what is known as current gain.

The current gain of a transistor is depending on its structure and other parameters, and it is measured by the transistor’s ‘hFE’ value, which stands for ‘transistor current gain’. The hFE of the ZTX851 is typically between 200 and 300. This means that a current applied to the transistor’s base will be amplified by 200-300 times when it reaches the collector.
