Working Principle

The working principle of the APT1222AZ is based on the use of an LED coupled with a high voltage phototriac switch. Its non-hysteresis isolated zero-crossing (ZC) detector is another important part, allowing direct dimming control using a wide variety of AC phase control signal generated sources. The ZC detector senses when the AC voltage crosses the zero axis and generates a zero crossing timing signal. This signal is then processed and an output is generated directly controlling the output SCR triac with a very fast switching speed from full conduction to zero conduction. The APT1222AZ essentially ensures suppressions of multiple zero crossing events in the AC power line.
