The IDT74LVC4245AQG is a member of the Integrated Device Technology (IDT), Inc. Series of Logic-Translators, Level Shifters. It is typically used in designs where the I/O devices (Input/Output) have different electrical characteristics such as voltage and timing. This device enables seamless conversion between digital interfaces of the devices which have different signaling requirements programmed through the device’s configuration pins.
The IDT74LVC4245AQG is a two-channel, low power, VDD-tolerant logic translators with a slew rate of 9 ns. Application Field
The IDT74LVC4245AQG is suitable for high speed bus interfaces and level translating between any two of 5V, 3.3V and 2.5V systems. Applications for the IDT74LVC4245AQG include memory interfacing, which can be seen in smartphones, digital radios, and connected auto electronics. It is also used in instrumentation and cellular baseband controllers.
Working Principle
The IDT74LVC4245AQG supports bidirectional level-shifting between any two of 3.3V, 2.5V, 1.8V and 1.5V I/O standards and offers independent and bidirectional data conversion with each input having a separate output. This device has a very low signal propagation delay of 9 ns and high efficiency of power and noise immunity while switching between the different logic levels.
It is configured with four configurable setup pins (IN0_VCC, IN1_VCC, OUT0_VCC and OUT1_VCC) and two enables (EN0 and EN1). These configuration pins are used to define the I/Os’ standards, setup delay and control when the level shift occurs. The device enables input parity coding detection, edge detection, and hold-time generation, allowing for a complete synchronization from the input to the output.
The device has two input pins (IN0 and IN1) which are connected directly to the two output shifters (OUT0 and OUT1). The output shifters then level shift the incoming logic levels and drive the output pins on a logic level defined by the associated configuration pins. The output shifters are also designed to meet ESD requirements.
The IDT74LVC4245AQG enables signals with different logic levels, slew rates, and timing characteristics to directly interact with one another. This allows communication between devices in a heterogeneous environment, making it an ideal solution for applications that require communication between systems with different voltage and timing requirements.
