IR2132SPBF is a double-channel high and low-side specific gate driver IC (integrated circuit) from International Rectifiers\'s automotive series. It is part of Power Management Integrated Circuits (PMICs), particularly gate drivers. It is a SOP-8 packaged device intended for automotive applications.

Gate drivers are essential components of powering schemes and they serve as an important link between the high-side and low-side switches. IR2132SPBF can drive a wide range of NMOS and PMOS high or low side switches, such as IGBTs, MOSFETs, etc., which makes them ideal for powering applications in the automotive industry. The device operates between -40 °C and +150 °C and offers the complete protection of the overload, under-voltage, short-circuit, etc., in automated process.

The integrated circuit has a wide application field, ranging from supplying high-current switches in multiple power modules, to driving solenoid valves, actuators, and relays. It also finds application in systems with DC-DC conversion, auxiliary power supplies, LED lighting systems, and battery management.

IR2132SPBF can be find in two different versions: the IR2132S and the IR2132SP. The only difference is that the IR2132SP allows for a remotely connected GND, for improved thermal performance, at the expense of a slightly higher cost. Both are current-limited gate drivers with a galavanic isolation. They use IC technology to drive high and low side switches with 600V and 200mA.

The working principle of the IR2132SPBF is based on a feedback loop. It is one of the only gate drivers that features its own current limitation, allowing it to control the currents of the switch. It uses a control logic to turn the switch ON or OFF, while the feedback loop will provide a signal to the control logic based on the output current, activating the switch if the current is lower than the predetermined limit.
