PMIC - Gate Drivers

IR21531D is a gate driver IC which is primarily used in an array of power management applications. It is a three phase Integrated Gate Driver (IGD) that features integrated low-side FETs and an adjustable temperature sensing circuit. It is designed to drive outer insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) that are used in power converters.

Working Principle of IR21531D

The working principle of the gate driver IC is to provide a low impedance path that is able to transfer the gate signal from the gate driver IC to the IGBT circuit. The gate signal is generated by the gate driver IC to turn on and off the IGBTs in a power converter circuit. The on/off switching action of the IGBTs is controlled by the gate driver IC. The gate driver IC has two inputs, one for the gate control signal, and one for the gate signal (Voltage source).

The gate control signal is sent to the gate driver which then uses the gate-control signal to control the gate signal. The gate signal is then passed on to the IGBTs, which then determine the switching action of the IGBTs.
