<p>The IR2183S is a high performance, isolated, gate driver IC specially designed to drive the gate of high power MOSFETs or IGBTs in switching power supplies and motor control applications. </p><p>For switching power supply applications, the typical operating frequency of the IR2183S can range from 10kHz to over 500kHz, making it ideal for high frequency, high efficiency switching circuit designs. </p><p>The IR2183S provides the necessary energy for switching, enabling higher efficiency and higher power density to be achieved. Additionally, it can reduce the number of external components and reduce the cost of the system. </p><p>The IR2183S is also very useful in motor control applications, where it can provide a great deal of flexibility and accuracy. With the necessary driver circuitry on-chip, the IR2183S enables precise control of the motor, allowing for precise speed and torque control. </p><p>The IR2183S is optimized for driving high power MOSFETs and IGBTs in the short circuit mode. Moreover, the IR2183S includes a high-side bootstrap diode and an integrated charge pump, as well as a patented active bootstrap circuit, which actively compensates for creepage and leakage current in the MOSFET/IGBT in order to maximize protection and enhance performance. </p><p>The IR2183S features a voltage-mode driver topology with a floating high side (VCC2 - VCC1) to provide isolated switching between two isolated power planes. This offers higher efficiency and lower EMI(electromagnetic interference) in the power circuits. Additionally, the half-bridge driver IC incorporates a bootstrap current source, which saves the external components from current spikes and leakage problems that usually occur in the power circuit.<p>The IR2183S also comprises of a second dual-drive side for driving the lower device in thehalf-bridge topology. This side comes with its own charge pump and buffered gatedrive, which delivers higher energy for switching, improved gate-turn-on and higherpeak current. </p> <p>In addition to the high-side driver and the lower driver, the IR2183S also includes anenable pin and the necessary soft-start circuit, which provide an increased level of system safety and reliability. </p><p>The IR2183S is available in several package packages such as TO-220F, SO-8, SOIC-8 and PsO-8 packages and is suitable for a wide range of gate drivers applications, both in the power supply and motor control fields. </p><p>These features, coupled with its ability to drive high frequency, high efficiency and high power density, make the IR2183S ideal for use in a variety of gate drivers applications such as power supplies, motor control and LED lighting. </p>
