The IRDC3810 is an evaluation board based on the new pin-packing control IC from Infineon Technologies AG: the IR3810. It is a complete low-power non-inverting DC-DC converter with an adjustable output voltage range from 0.6 V up to 16 V. This board, categorized under Evaluation Boards - DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS, is an easily accessible tool for product development and for use in laboratory and educational applications. The IRDC3810 includes two power-dissipation paths for the high-side MOSFET and the low-side MOSFET, and the board is also able to provide up to 2A of output current capacity.The IRDC3810 evaluation board has two operating modes: linear mode and pulse-width modulation (PWM) mode. In linear mode, the board provides a wide range of adjustable output voltages with a low power dissipation and low EMI. In PWM mode, a selected fixed ratio between the compensation capacitor and the sense resistor determines the control amount of the high-side and the low-side MOSFETs. In this mode, the board provides a constant output voltage, and the switching frequency can be programmed.The IRDC3810 is an ideal platform for characterizing, evaluating, and prototyping discrete- and IC-based DC-DC preregulators. The IRDC3810 evaluation board comes with a range of options, including an additional power supply, a synchronous MOSFET, and a built-in current-limit feature. These features allow the user to tailor the board to meet the user\'s specific application requirements.The IRDC3810 evaluation board works when a rectangular supply voltage is used, such as an unregulated transformer. The board internally converts the input DC voltage into a pulse-modulated output voltage with an adjustable duty cycle. The board contains an integrated MOSFET driver that provides the necessary gate drive for the MOSFETs. The current sense resistor helps to regulate the output voltage.The board also includes an error amplifier that provides the necessary feedback signal for the current-limit feature. The board uses a two-loop regulation technique, with the current-limit circuit acting as the outer loop power-control component and the error amplifier providing the inner loop feedback. The board also includes a voltage sense circuit that allows the user to adjust the output voltage range.The IRDC3810 evaluation board features a wide input voltage range, from 5 V to 75 V, and is capable of providing a wide range of adjustable output voltages.
