IRDC3853 is an evaluation board designed for direct current to direct current (DC/DC) and alternating current to direct current (AC/DC) switched mode power supply (SMPS) applications. This board uses Infineon’s IRDC3853 integrated circuit (IC) to provide for high efficiency control of an isolated flyback converter topology. The board also provides for additional flexibility to provide input voltage range for a variety of applications.The IRDC3853 IC features an Infineon’s REGULARMOS low power MOSFET technology, which provides an optimized efficiency and simple synchronization with external controllers. In addition, this IC also includes an integrated high side drive, which allows it to use as a single-stage construction. The IC also includes protection against overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, and open loop conditions.The IRDC3853 evaluation board is designed with a variety of features including adjustable input voltage range, adjustable switching frequency, adjustable output voltage range, overvoltage and undervoltage protection, sinusoidal current mode control, frequency synchronization, auto restart, and non-dissipative current sensing. It also includes an efficient control loop design incorporating linear regulators, which provides high efficiency operation.The board includes an adjustable input voltage range of 4.2 VDC to 25 VDC and an adjustable switching frequency of 400 kHz to 4 MHz. The board also provides for an adjustable output voltage range of 10 VDC to 36 VDC. The board also includes an integrated feedback circuit for controlling the output voltage and an integrated phase locked loop (PLL) for controlling the frequency of the switching signals.The IRDC3853 evaluation board has several features which allow it to be used for a variety of applications. These features include an adjustable feedback voltage range, adjustable output current limit, adjustable soft start, overload protection, and auto switching between interleaved and non-interleaved modes. In addition, the board also includes overvoltage, undervoltage, and open loop protection.The IRDC3853 evaluation board also includes other features which improve its performance.
