The IRDCIP1206-A evaluation board is a part of the IRDC family of off-line, isolated, non-isolated DC/DC converters and AC/DC power supplies featuring Integrated Power Stages (IPS™). It is designed to provide users with an easy to use system for evaluating the performance of these converters. The board is a complete off-line power supply with its own voltage regulator, control circuitry, and feedback connections. This evaluation board demonstrates the features of the IRDCIP1206-A for both low frequency (50-100 kHz) and higher frequency (600-1000 kHz) applications.

The IRDCIP1206-A is a two-phase, non-isolated, synchronous voltage buck converter. It features an integrated MOSFET driver, high peak current capability, and low current ripple allowing for high frequency operation. It is also capable of delivering up to an output current of 3.2 A and an output voltage of up to 12 V with an input voltage from 4.5 V to 60 V. The evaluation board includes an integrated gate driver (IPT1206 ), an external shunt resistor, and two integrated N-MOS driver circuits allowing for dual phase operation.

The IRDCIP1206-A Evaluation Board features externally visible MOSFETs, allowing for optimized thermal behavior. A dedicated Thermal Synchronization circuit allows for low output voltage ripple and a precise switching frequency, ensuring that the converter operates within acceptable temperature specifications. Additionally, the integrated start/stop/enable (EN) pins enable users to easily control the start/stop of the converter.

The IRDCIP1206-A evaluation board features a built-in sense resistor for current sensing, allowing users to monitor current flow in the system. Additionally, an external power transistor can be added to the system in order to increase the size of the load that can be driven by the power supply. The board also features a range of protection functions, such as over-current protection (OCP), over-voltage protection (OVP), and short-cicuit protection (SCP), adding increased safety and reliability.

The board’s flexible configuration allows users to easily adjust the current and voltage settings of the converter, utilizing either the dedicated terminal blocks on the board or an external potentiometer. Additionally, the board is EMI certified, and is compliant to the EN55011 and CISPR11 directives regarding Electro-magnetic Compatibility.
