A insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) is a device used in switch-mode power supplies and motor-control circuits. It is the combination of a bipolar junction transistor (BJT) and field-effect transistor (FET). IGBTs are used to control motors, convert power, and interface power sources with loads.
