The LM238K is a series of low dropout linear voltage regulators, designed for easy adjustment and replacement of existing regulators for improved efficiency. This series of regulators has a wide range of applications and maximum output current of up to 1.5A. The LM238K series of regulators provides excellent regulation, fast line and load transient response, fast reaction to input and output transients, and fast adjustment of the output voltage to proper regulation levels. It is suitable for both analog and digital systems.
The LM238K family of linear voltage regulators makes use of a number of features to ensure efficient and reliable operation, including a wide 6.7V - 25V operating range and a minimum 3V drop out at 1A output current. The LM238K also provides automatic thermal protection to prevent overvoltage or overtemperature conditions, as well as a single, highly accurate programming resistor that can easily adjust the output current to the required level. Other features of the LM238K family of regulators include a wide variety of package styles and power limits, a low output voltage ripple, and a low ESR output capacitor.
The LM238K series of voltage regulators is typically used in applications such as battery-powered systems, precision analog circuits, power converters and microcontrollers, and audio and automotive systems. These regulator devices can also be used in medical and communication systems. Additionally, the LM238K series of regulators is ideal for low-voltage precision applications, with an extremely low quiescent current of only nA at no load.
The LM238K series of voltage regulators have a maximum output current of 1.5A and a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. This series also offers a very low output voltage ripple, an accurate drop out voltage, an adjustable voltage range and an adjustable current limit.
The LM238K series of voltage regulators uses the differential amplitude (DRM) voltage reference. The DRM voltage reference is based on a comparator that senses the differential voltage between a pair of p- and n-channel MOSFETs. The differential voltage is then converted to a voltage that is used to bias the error amplifier, which drives the output stage. This method of voltage reference is considered to be more accurate and stable than other types.
The LM238K series of voltage regulators work by keeping the output voltage stable through the combination of an error amplifier, a differential reference and a pass transistor. The error amplifier senses the output voltage and compares it with the voltage reference. When the output voltage is lower than the reference voltage, the pass transistor is used to pass the feedback voltage in order to keep the output voltage at the required level.
