The LM5114BSDEVAL/NOPB is an evaluation board designed for use with the LM5114B High Voltage Dual N-Channel MOSFET Controller. It is designed to deliver high power in either a synchronous Buck or Boost configuration with output voltages ranging from 12V up to 700V. This evaluation board has been designed to be used as a reference for evaluation of the LM5114B controller and as a platform for off-line DC/DC and AC/DC power supplies.

The LM5114BSDEVAL/NOPB evaluation board includes all components necessary for testing the LM5114B controller as an off-line power supply. It includes two high side N-channel gate drivers, a low side driver, two voltage reference circuits, two voltage dividers, two rectifiers, two current sense resistors, two fets for output current sensing, metal oxide varistors for overvoltage protection, a set of shunt resistors for current sensing, two EMI filters and one gate driver transformer. Additional components are included on the board to provide for various configurations of the LM5114B.

The LM5114BSDEVAL/NOPB is designed to operate as either a synchronous or asynchronous buck or boost converter. To implement the synchronous buck or boost design, simply remove the jumper that can be found near the FETs on the board. This allows the FETs to be driven by the same gate signal. To implement the asynchronous design, the jumper should be left in place. The LM5114BSDEVAL/NOPB also features two EMI filters – one for each output. The EMI filter reduces radiated noise from the power supply.

In addition to the design of the LM5114BSDEVAL/NOPB, the board also provides several additional features. The board is designed to allow for testing of various LM5114B features such as voltage tracking, frequency synchronization, soft start, skip mode, and overvoltage protection. The board also provides for an optional output voltage reference circuit, a gate driver transformer, and an adjustable DC output voltage range. The adjustable range allows for testing of output voltages up to 700V.
