PMIC - Gate Drivers are integrated circuits that provide power management and drive capabilities in a variety of applications. The LM5100AM/NOPB is a quad half-bridge gate driver designed to drive high power brushless DC motors up to 20 amps, with integrated current sense and temperature monitoring.

Working Principle

The LM5100AM/NOPB is designed to drive two pairs of FETs that form a single half-bridge configuration. The top FETs are driven by the high-side drivers, while the bottom FETs are driven by the low-side drivers. It also features an integrated current sense and temperature monitoring, which allows it to quickly detect faults and shut down the system if necessary.

The high-side and low-side drivers use high-current gate-drivers to control the FETs, reducing turn-on times and gate resistance.
