The LM5107MA is a peak current mode gate driver introducing an integrated high side supply voltage regulator capable of providing up to 1.1A peak output current. It is a PWM controlled peak current mode device designed to drive power MOSFETs and IGBTs with appropriate gate drive levels for switching applications. It is capable of driving n-channel MOSFETs at up to 5.5V supply voltages and p-channel MOSFETs when the internal low-side pMOSFET is used. It has a wide operating range of 4.0V down to 0.8V and is well suited for applications where the control voltage is greater than the gate voltage requirement.

The LM5107MA is designed to drive N-Channel power MOSFETs and IGBTs in load switch, synchronous buck, and other PWM controlled applications. The internall built-in 16V regulator is designed to provide the necessary high side voltage with sufficient gate drive current. The maximum peak output current of 1.1A and +/-2A limiting capability allows the device to drive larger gates with minimum voltage drop. The selectable PWM deadtime control and current limit to provide improved rate of rise and risk of cross conduction.

The LM5107MA integrates an internal low side MOSFET for driving a pMOSFET or multiple nMOSFETs. The integrated state machine offers additional features such as current balancing in a half-bridge configuration. The PWM deadtime control and current limiting features prevent the cross conduction possibility between power switches in a half-bridge configuration, reducing the possibility of catastrophic failure in the circuit. The on board temperature monitor provides a timely fault warning and shutdown of the circuitry.

The LM5107MA supports a variety of operating modes, including Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) control, Pulse Frequency Modulation (PFM) control, and Single Ended PreConduct (SEP). The Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) control allows higher voltage to be used while still providing efficient current operation. The Pulse Frequency Modulation (PFM) control mode enables the use of higher load current in order to reduce gate turn-off losses. The Single Ended PreConduct (SEP) mode reduces dv/dt stress during turn off and increases EMI performance as well as energy efficiency.

The device also integrates an on board temperature monitor to provide timely fault warnings and shutdown of the circuit if it crosses critical temperature threshold levels. It is capable of driving a variety of circuits, including high frequency and low frequency DC/DC and AC/DC converters as well as High Frequency Inverters. Additionally, the device is also suitable for home appliance and automotive applications. With its PWM deadtime control, current limit and voltage rating, the LM5107MA is a reliable and efficient gate driver, suitable for a variety of applications.
