The LM5176EVM-HP is an evaluation board for the production of high power, wide-range input offline AC/DC and DC/DC switching power supplies. It is designed as a multi-channel system for the evaluation of electrical and mechanical performance of AC/DC and DC/DC switching power supplies with a wide output voltage range. The board operates in both forward and flyback topologies, enabling the choice of either topology for AC/DC or DC/DC conversion.

The LM5176 Evaluation Board can be powered from both AC and DC input sources. It provides high efficiency at a very wide input voltage range, from 10V to 600V, making it ideal for applications such as automotive, computer, industrial control, and medical equipments. It features an onboard DC/DC converter operating as a pre-regulator, providing a smooth regulated DC voltage to feed the DC/DC switching converter. This pre-regulator is designed to be directly interfaced to a high-voltage DC bus, and it can also be used to pre-regulate DC inputs.

The LM5176EVM-HP is equipped with three power stages and can generate an output power up to 400W and a maximum peak power of 600W. It also contains on-board power MOSFETs, current sense resistors, soft-start capacitors, and the necessary components for evaluating the performance of the switching converter. It is designed to be directly interfaced to a DC voltage source, allowing the user to directly evaluate the performance at each stage. Using the Evaluation Board, users can easily evaluate the performance, load, and line regulations. The user interface board provides several user-friendly features such as an adjustable output voltage, soft-start time control, overvoltage protection, thermal shutdown, current limit, on/off control, IC reset, and output voltage monitoring for the system. The user interface board also offers an LCD display, LED drivers, and a keypad for better control and a PC/laptop interface for simulation and monitoring.

The LM5176EVM-HP suit can also be expanded with optional additional boards which provide the flexibility and customization needed, enabling users to create a custom design. Also included in the EVM kit is TI\'s BOOSTX-DRV8743, a two-channel motor driver and a TLC59116 current-mode buck LED driver, providing the maximum flexibility for powering a wide range of applications.
