The MUR8100E is a Single Diode Rectifier that is designed for high surge, high current applications. The current flow is in the reverse direction when the polarity of the voltage is reversed. The operating principle of the MUR8100E is similar to that of a standard rectifier diode. A rectifier diode acts as a one-way valve to prevent current from flowing in the wrong direction, allowing only current to flow in the desired direction. In the case of a single diode rectifier, the current will only flow in one direction, allowing for rectification of an alternating current. When used in combination with other rectifiers, multiple input sources can be rectified to produce a single DC output. In order to increase its current handling capabilities, the MUR8100E features a surge current circuit that is designed to limit the surge current. This surge current circuit is capable of limiting the peak current to less than the specified value to prevent overvoltage and undervoltage conditions.
