When applying power to the DC power system, the UCC3921N starts by conducting a power-on control cycle. The integrated monitoring circuit detects abnormal voltage, current or temperature levels and triggers the low power mode to enable the safest possible power control.The UCC3921N switches the power supply during operation, according to the selected pre-defined voltage and current settings. The voltage settings are done based on a reference current, and when the reference current is exceeded, the UCC3921N begins to turn off the load to prevent overload.The over-current protection (OCP) circuit is used to protect the module from over current. When a predetermined over current threshold is reached, the UCC3921N immediately triggers zero-crossing transition to stop the load from being overloaded.The UCC3921N also provides protection from short circuit and reverse flow. The short circuit protection (SCP) circuit limits the output current to an Opera maximum, thus protecting the circuit from any accidental overloads. The reverse flow protection circuit prevents the system from receiving any reverse current from the load.On the other hand, over-voltage protection (OVP) is used to protect the system from over voltage. When the output voltage exceeds the OVP threshold, the UCC3921N shuts down the output voltage to protect the system.Conclusion
