As it features remarkably good linearity and matching characteristics, the 2SB1420 is also suitable for use in audio or video amplifier circuits.2SB1420 Working PrincipleThe 2SB1420 is a PNP type bipolar junction transistor (BJT). It consists of three layers, the Base, Collector, and Emitter, which are separated by an insulating layer.When a small current flows through the Base-Emitter junction, it triggers an amplification effect known as “gain”. This current needs to be greater than the Base-Emitter reversed saturation current, or Ices. Once activated, current passes through the Collector-Emitter junction, which is resistance-free.The amount of current that can be passed through the Collector-Emitter junction is determined by the magnitude of the Base current, with higher Base current resulting in higher Collector current. The gain of the 2SB1420 can be increased by increasing the Base current. However, this should be used with caution, as too much current will damage the device.The 2SB1420 features a current amplification factor (hfe) of 40-80 and a Collector-Emitter Saturation Voltage of 0.3V. The maximum Collector-Emitter voltage of 30V ensures steady operation.
