The DDA124EH-7 is a 4-Darlington array of pre-biased bipolar junction transistors (BJTs). The device is ideal for use as a driver for a wide range of residential and commercial applications. It is intended for use with a wide range of motor and lighting loads, for both AC and DC applications. The device operates in low and medium voltage applications, and is designed to reduce system EMI.
The device is composed of four individual Darlington transistors connected in an array configuration. Each Darlington consists of two PNP bipolar junction transistors with the emitters of both transistors electrically connected and share a common collector connection. An external current source known as “base current” flows into the shared base connection of both transistors. This base current is amplified through the two transistors and circulates through the base and emitter circuit to the common collector connection.
The array configuration of the DDA124EH-7 simplifies and speeds up the design process. Since the Darlington transistors are pre-biased, the user only needs to apply an external voltage to the collector connection of the device. The array will automatically adjust the power levels of each transistor as the external voltage is varied. Furthermore, the DDA124EH-7 integrates a voltage regulator to modify the pre-bias current for a wide range of external input voltages.
