The L6385D013TR is a member of the PMIC (Power Management IC) family and part of the Gate Drivers- family. It is an industrially-proven BJT (Bipolar Junction Transistor) gate driver with a very low-power on-resistance. It is designed specifically to provide current drive and protection for gate-controlled transistors from widely varying gate voltages, gate current, and gate-to-source voltages. It has very low gate-to-source/drain capacitance for low gate charge, allowing for faster turn-on and off times, as well as efficient use of power.
The main application areas of the L6385D013TR are consumer electronics, industrial automation, power conversion, motor control, communications, and automotive. The device is suitable for driving power MOSFETs and IGBTs in switch-mode power supplies, DC/DC converters, motor drives, and other applications where gate charge/current is important and needs precise control.
The L6385D013TR is designed to drive large loads up to 55A (RMS) while consuming only a few milliamps in normal operation. The device features a built-in regulated gate-drive-output (VOUT) stage and is capable of providing constant gate drive voltage for the FETs regardless of the input voltage levels. This eliminates the need for any additional external supplies and allows for faster transient response times.
It has an active current pulse blanking circuit which reduces the amount of noise that is generated during the switching operation and suppresses the ringing of the gate drive. It also has a built-in active surge suppressor that provides protection against over-voltage transients up to 50V, and an active de-glitch/adjustment stage that operates to reduce the level of spikes that can be generated through external wiring systems.
